Bought a Sigma 30 mm f/1.4 lens for my Sony alpha A6000 mirrorless DSLR on Thursday and began learning how to use my first ever prime lens on Friday afternoon in the back yard. This photo was taken with the lens fully open looking almost straight up at the last full rose in our lovely old arbour. Very pleased with the shallow depth of field producing the blurred background, but I’ve never owned a 1.4 lens before so there’s a learning curve involved. The Sigma 1.4 has a very high rating for sharpness and will do a lovely job on portraits.
