Alhambra – “The Red City”
Grenada was the last part of Islamic Spain taken in the Catholic reconquest.
Fernando and Isabel, “Los Catolicos,” finished off this centuries-long reconquista process in 1492. Los Catolicos are buried in Granada.
We visited the Alhambra twice in 2011; once with a tour group and again on our self-guided part, most of which was seeing and/or revisiting places the tour didn’t cover thoroughly enough or at all.
